Daily Fresh: Daley

Every now and again a new artist crosses that fine line of Pop versus RnB, being ever so soulful. Just think of when you first heard Robin Thicke, Taylor Dayne, or Justin (Timberlake). Daley, a 23 year old British singer/songwriter from Manchester is another artist fitting this category. The combination of soulful vocals and up-beat production is what you might refer to as ‘Future Throwback Soul’. You might have come across his name or sound on Gorillaz’ Doncamatic (2010).
His debut single Remember Me is scheduled for release November 19th. The song, which features Jessie J, samples and pinches its title from a 1997 hit by Scottish DJ Alex Blackmore, aka Blue Boy, the track itself already using a sample of Marlena Shaw’s Woman of the Ghetto. The song features on Daley’s Alone Together EP, which also includes a cover of Amy’s Love Is A Losing Game and the title track featuring Marsha Ambrosius.
To prove he’s got the knack, watch this Live performance below, a stunning rendition of Maxwell’s Pretty Wings. Catch the sleek video for Remember Me above. G-g-g-geng geng, Remember this name!
